A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases improved gameplay and control systems, offering a fresh look at this dystopian action RPG. The core gameplay loop remains: battling colossal mechanical creatures (Abductors), harvesting resources, upgrading gear, and completing challenging missions. The remaster, however, boasts significant enhancements.
The game, initially a PlayStation Vita exclusive, shares a similar gameplay loop with the Monster Hunter series, albeit with a futuristic setting. Players, cast as Sinners in a resource-depleted world, undertake missions for their Panopticon (city-state), ranging from rescue operations to Abductor extermination and control system captures. These missions can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.
The recently released trailer highlights key improvements. Visually, the game receives a substantial upgrade, leaping from 544p to 4K resolution (2160p) on PS5 and PC, maintaining a smooth 60 FPS. PS4 players can expect 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Switch version runs at 1080p with 30 FPS. Beyond visuals, gameplay is noticeably faster, thanks to streamlined mechanics and increased movement speed, along with the ability to cancel weapon attacks.
Crafting and upgrading have been completely overhauled, featuring more intuitive interfaces and the ability to freely attach and detach modules. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance their equipment using resources obtained from rescued citizens. For seasoned players, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode has been added. Furthermore, all original customization DLC from the PS Vita version is included from the outset.
Freedom Wars Remastered launches January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
