The Voodoo Doll offers a relatively favorable risk-reward ratio among Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia. While game updates have adjusted its effectiveness, it remains a valuable asset.

Its primary function is to provoke the ghost into exhibiting evidence-related behaviors. This is achieved by sequentially inserting pins into the doll. This proves particularly useful when dealing with elusive or inactive ghosts, prompting them to reveal evidence like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprints.

Ten pins can be inserted, each triggering ghost activity. However, proceed cautiously: each pin reduces sanity by 5%, potentially leading to a 50% sanity loss after inserting all pins, significantly increasing the risk of ghost hunts.

The critical risk lies in the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, decreasing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) ghost hunt near your location.

Despite the inherent risks, the Voodoo Doll's potential for evidence gathering can outweigh the dangers, especially with adequate preparation.

Cursed Possessions (often called "Cursed Objects") are unique items randomly appearing on any Phasmophobia map, though their appearance frequency may vary based on difficulty and game mode (Challenge Mode).

Unlike standard equipment that minimizes risk while gathering evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost but at a significantly higher risk to your character's well-being.

The risk associated with each Cursed Object varies, requiring careful consideration of whether to use them. Non-usage incurs no penalty. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
