Marvel Rivals Comments on 30 FPS Bug

Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Issue Affecting Several Heroes

Players of Marvel Rivals experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings, particularly with heroes like Dr. Strange and Wolverine, can expect a resolution soon. The development team has acknowledged a bug affecting damage calculations at 30 FPS, impacting several characters' abilities. While a precise fix date isn't available, the developers are actively working on a solution, aiming for inclusion in the upcoming Season 1 launch on January 11th.

Released in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals quickly gained popularity within the hero shooter genre. Despite initial concerns regarding hero balance, the game boasts an impressive 80% player approval rating based on over 132,000 Steam reviews.

The 30 FPS damage glitch primarily affects a subset of heroes, including Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine, noticeably reducing damage dealt at lower frame rates. Community Manager James, in an official Discord announcement, confirmed the issue, noting that reduced frame rates also impact movement for some heroes, indirectly affecting damage output. Although a complete fix might take time, James assured players that Season 1, launching January 11th, will address the problem, with further updates planned if necessary.

The root of the problem appears to lie within Marvel Rivals' client-side prediction mechanism, a common programming technique designed to minimize perceived lag.

While the official list of affected heroes and abilities remains incomplete, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities are confirmed to be impacted. The effects are more apparent when testing against stationary targets compared to live matches. The Season 1 update is expected to resolve the issue, with any remaining problems tackled in subsequent patches.
